Run

So the run today was interesting. Pretty much all up hill. I ended up walking more than I usually do; I have decided I don't like hills much. I realize it is necessary for training, but I still don't like it. I did the 6 miles in about an hour and twenty five minutes. Should not have taken me so long, but, you know, the hills!
My legs were tight and felt awful the first 3 1/2 miles, then after that, everything loosened up and felt alright. By the time I was done I felt like I could go a couple more miles as long as there were no HILLS!
Anyway, it was great to run with the team again today. Met a new member named Angie. That's whats so great about this team. I get to meet so many wonderful, nice, great people that I would probably not get the chance to know if it weren't for Rally.

Saturday

So I'm off to run with my Rally teammates this morning in Olympia, we are doing 6 miles today.
I have been doing pretty good on my fundraising. I only have $550.00 more to go. Woo Hoo!
Hoping my calves will relax today. They've been very tight the last few weeks when I run, not sure what that's all about, but should get better.

Half way

So I'm almost half way to my fundraising goal! Going to run in Olympia tomorrow with my teammates. I think we are doing 6 miles. Hopefully it won't rain!

Time flies!

Wow, it's been almost two months since my last post! Alot of crazy stuff has been going on and I have been trying to do most of my runs, but I've only made one team training run. Soon the dust will settle and all will go back to normal. Or at least as normal as it can be!
I have still been taking classes at the gym; trying to keep up with the cross training. I am also still trying to lose some weight. It should all start coming together. I have lost 7 pounds since January 3rd, kind at a stand still right now, but it will start coming off again soon.
Please keep Mia and Rhema in your prayers. Rhema's not doing so good and Mia is getting ready for a bone marrow transplant. If she can stay healthy.
Till next time

Training

Our first saturday run as a team is on Feb 5th. Looking forward to meeting the new members and catching up with my teammates from last year. I've been doing alot of bookcamp style classes and other different varieties of workouts to hopefully be stronger this year. I would like to do the 1/2 in better time than I did last year. I feel stronger. I think next week I will try to get some runs in. It's been kind of cold and I won't run in my neighborhood in the dark!

I need to get my donation website up. I'll have to check with someone to help me do that. I need to get started. I have to raise more this year, but I think if I put my mind to it, I will be able to do it!

Here we go again

So, I did it again. I just signed up to do the Seattle Rock n Roll 1/2 marathon with my Rally team. I was really on the fence this year. The money we have to raise has been increased; my body is a year older; I haven't been running much; the list could go on forever.

But a few weeks ago one of our little Rally kids relapsed. I got to know her mom and dad from last years Rally NW team and Rally Girls team. She's such a happy little girl, she and her twin brother turned 4 this year. When I read the journal entries her parents make, it just breaks my heart.

So, I'm doing the only thing I know how to do. I'm going to train and run and raise some money for childhood cancer research. And along the way, hopefully, bring more awareness of this awful thing that is killing our precious little ones.

That's all I can do..........

I did it..............

So, I did it. I still can not believe it sometimes. I've been trying to figure out how to explain the feelings I went thru during that 3 hours and 44 seconds. I don't think I will be able to. I felt every emotion a person can feel I think. I finished in a decent time. My goal was 3 hours, so I think I did pretty good. My body felt pretty good afterwards. I was very tired. My left knee gave me some trouble over the 2 or 3 days following the race. But all in all I was surprised how good my body felt. I can only say I owe it to our coaches and all their advice along this journey.
I will be doing a 10K in September with my fellow Rally Girls. I have been taking it easy since the race. I haven't been running, just walking and doing strength training and yoga. I don't want to push my knee too hard yet.
I will continue this blog. Even after the September run. I plan on doing the marathon again next year with my Rally NW teammates.
I hope you keep following along with me. This has been one incredible amazing journey and I'm not ready for it to end!
